Ministry Through Music
Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord!
In the preface of her book Circles of Care, noted hymn writer and theologian Ruth Duck
writes that "the image of circles evokes memories of shared tasks, talk, laughter and sometimes
tears and conflicts." This image of the circle is also descriptive of the
music ministry at First Baptist Church. Every ensemble shares in the offering of praise to God through music:
ringers, singers and instrumentalists give of their time and talent
to glorify their Lord. Every ensemble also shares in the joy of
community: ringers, singers and instrumentalists talk, laugh and cry
together. Our musical circles are all about community and ministry.
The Music Ministry is extremely diverse, and on any given Sunday
you may hear Mozart, a contemporary chorus, a spiritual or a
gospel song, accompanied by guitars or a 30 rank Moeller organ. We take
literally the words of the Psalmist: "Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord."
